Viewing 16 items in UFS Frames | Aggressive skate frames - The chassis of the skate, known as the frame, connects to the base of the skate using 2 x 6mm allen key bolts. Skaters grind or slide on the frames and soulplates, which are specially made to withstand this and are usually replaceable.
There are various types of frame design, however since early in the year 2000 all but the very cheapest aggressive skates and frames have standardised on the fitting. The Universal Frame System (UFS) was introduced by frame manufacturers to allow skaters to easily customize their skates or keep them rolling for longer by replacing the worn out parts.
Originally most skaters used four wheels on each skate, with a small gap between the middle wheels where a plastic insert called an h-block was used for grinding. This is referred to as a flat setup.
As the sport has evolved and skaters have progressed,Manufacturers introduced small harder wheels and a larger groove in the Frame for Grinding. The undersized wheels are called anti-rockers. Some frames come with anti-rockers and others require them to be purchased separately if required. Some rollerbladers don't use Middle wheels at all.
A few UFS frame manufacturers have taken this a step further with so-called Freestyle frames which have just two axles and a very large groove from front wheel to rear wheel allowing for tricks which were never possible on a traditional Flat setup.
Well Known UFS Frame Manufacturer Kizer also produce a UFS Suspension Frame with a Free-style Groove and Suspension arms on each end to dampen the shock of harsh landings ! They are currentlly the only manufacturer making this type of frame and they have proven to be very popular.
